Points Explanation

Players are awarded points for top 15 finishes in NNGA events. Below is a breakdown of how these points are awarded.

Divisions

The Regular Series of NNGA events has two divisions: Scratch and Net.

The Senior Series of NNGA events has three divisions: Blue Senior Scratch, Blue Senior Net (ages 50-59) and Silver Senior Net (ages 60+)

The Senior Blue division players will choose scratch or net as the division they would like to participate and accrue points. The division you select will be the only division in which you will receive and accrue points. NOTE: Players are able to change their division at anytime and start collecting points in their newly selected division.

Silver Senior Net (Over 60) Net Only

Players eligible for the Silver Senior division have the choice to participate in the Blue division. NNGA only pays one (1) gross winner in the Silver division with no gross points awarded. Points for the Silver gross winner will be awarded for their net finish. NEW!! The Silver Scratch player who has the most 1st place wins in scratch will be invited to participate in the Haase-Whalen Cup matches. In case of ties, the Silver Scratch player with the most merchandise total will be chosen.

Dayton Valley Net Championship

If a player qualifies for match play they earn 50 points. For each match won in match play a player earns an additional 25 points each.

Regular Champion: 150 points
Senior Blue Champion: 125 points
Senior Silver Champion: 125 points

Nevada State Match Play

Players earn 40 points for each match won.

Below is a listing of competitions and champions that are determined by the highest number of points during the specified time period.

Match Play Qualifying

Scratch &
Net Divisions
Total of sixteen (16) players from each division qualify. Points begin with the 2009 Capital City Classic and end with the 2010 2 Man Stableford Team. The top 8 in points are automatically qualified. The Match Play Qualifier tournament will determine the remaining qualifiers for both divisions.

State Amateur Qualifying

Total of twenty-eight (28) players from each division qualify. Points begin with the 2009 Reno-Sparks City and end with the 2010 Capital City Classic. Any player who placed in the top 10 from the 2009 Nevada State Amateur is automatically qualified for the 2010 Nevada State Amateur. The remaining top 10 from the points list are automatically qualified. The twenty-eight (28) qualifying sports are reduced for each exempt player. The State Amateur Qualifier Tournament will determine the remaining number of qualifiers.

State Mid-Amateur

Scratch Division Total of twenty (20) players qualify. Points begin with the 2009 Master 40 and end with the 2010 Northern Nevada Amateur. The top four finishers from the previous year are exempt. The remaining top 10 off the points list and the balance from a State Mid-Amateur Qualifier (if needed).

Pacific Coast Championship

Scratch Division Total of three (3) players qualify. Points begin with the 2009 Master 40 and end with the 2010 Northern Nevada Amateur.

Player of the Year

Scratch Division The top point earner for the Scratch division is awarded Player of the Year. Scratch points begin with the 2009 2-Man Fall Team and end with the 2010 Governor's Cup. (Due to scheduling, scratch division points may reflect State and USGA events held after the Governor's Cup)
Net Division The top point's earner for the Net division is awarded Player of the Year. Net points begin with the 2009 Two Man Team DAndrea and end with the 2010 Nevada State Net Amateur.

Senior State Amateur Qualifying

Total of thirty (30) players qualify. Points begin with the 2009 Dayton Senior Amateur and end with the 2010 Senior Reno-Sparks City Championship. The top 10 in points following the 2010 Senior Reno-Sparks City Championship are automatically qualified. These top 10 have priority until the entry closing date August 2nd . Additional entries will be accepted in the order of receipt, with priority given to lower indexes.

Senior Player of the Year

The top point earner from each division is awarded Player of the Year. Points begin with the 2009 2-Man Senior Fall Championship and end with the 2010 2-Man Senior Stableford.

Senior Silver Player of the Year points start with the Carson Valley Senior and end with the 2-Man Senior Stableford.

3-Man Team

Scratch Division The top three scratch players from Nevada qualify for this USGA event. For the 2010 tournament, two (2) players will be selected from the SNGA and one (1) player from the NNGA. Single points begin with the 2009 Nevada State Amateur and end with the 2009 2 Man Fall Team. Double points begin with the 2010 2 Man Team and end with the 2010 Nevada State AmateurThe top three scratch players from Nevada qualify for this USGA event. For the 2010 tournament, two (2) players will be selected from the SNGA and one (1) player from the NNGA. Single points begin with the 2009 Nevada State Amateur and end with the 2009 2 Man Fall Team. Double points begin with the 2010 2 Man Team and end with the 2010 Nevada State Amateur.

Brooks / Park Cup

Scratch Division Total of twelve (12) players qualify. Each player must play in at least three events to qualify. Points begin with the 2009 2-Man Fall Team and end with the 2010 Governor's Cup. (Due to scheduling, scratch division points may reflect State and USGA events held after the Governor's Cup). The top 11 from the Scratch Division points list plus the Senior Blue Scratch Player of the Year qualify.

Haase / Whalen Cup

Net Division Total of twelve (12) players qualify. Each player must play in at least three events to qualify. Points begin with the 2009 2-Man Fall Team and end with the 2010 Governor's Cup. The top 10 from the Net Division points plus the Senior Blue Net Player of the Year and the Top Scratch Silver player qualify.

Player's must have played in at least three events from the qualifying years to qualify. Points begin with the 2008 Masters and end with the 2010 Dayton Valley Net Championship. Single points will be accrued from the 2008 Masters through the 2009 Reno-Sparks City. Double points will be accrued from the 2009 Winnemucca Amateur through the 2010 Dayton Valley Net Championship.
Senior Blue single points will be accrued from the 2008 Dayton Valley Senior through the 2009 Reno-Sparks City Senior. Senior Blue double points will be accrued from the 2009 Dayton Valley Senior through the 2010 Dayton Valley Net Championship Senior.
